SEOR: Senior Engineer of record.

JBE: Joist Bearing Elevation.


2.If Slab thickness 8" but embed plate size is 9" ,what to do?

SOL: We need to accommodate embed plate only in side the concrete if it is projecting out of slab

  then we need to reduce the Size of embed plate to match with the slab thickness.


3.If we have dimensions for operable partition in design drawings,Will you release drawings for 

  Fabrication?

NO,Without receiving final partiton drawings set don't release drawings for fabrication.


4.If members are getting field weld then what to take care in Shop Drawings?

We need to give no paint hatching for members where its get field weld,Also we need to give 2" extra hatching


5.While placing a grid ,What are main step you need to take care?

We need to compare grid dimensions between structural drawings and Arch drawings,If dimensions are  mismatching then we need to raise  RFI .


6..What is the Size of long slotted hole for 1" and 1.5" dia bolt?

For 1"-1 1/16x2 1/2

7.If suppose W member workable gage 2 "1/4  but design drawings shows to 3/4" bolt ,Is it workable?

No,

1.If we follow  3/4"dia bolt  then bolt will enter in to the encroachment.

2.There will be an edge distance problem. 

So we need to reduce the bolt size to 1/2 dia then we need to take confirmation from client.

It is a method of chipping out and filling of the weld on the farside of CJP.

While checking anchor bolts,what are the important points to be taken care?

      1.Bottom Of Base plate elevation to be finalized from design drawings


       2.If we use plate washers ,We need to follow over sized holes in base plate i.e 
          for example: if we use 3/4" Ø anchor rod,Hole dia should be 1 5/16"Ø.

      3.Plate washers sizes should be followed for AISC 14.2 table.
         for 3/4"Ø anchor rod , we will follow plate washer size as 1/4"X2X0'-2".

     4.Plate washers is used to cover the over sized holes.

     5.If design drawing does not furnish levelling method pattern then we need send to
         rfi on levelling method,Mostly we will use levelling nut or levelling plate  arrangement.

         we will use levelling plate thickness as 1/4" and we will match plate parameters  to base plate size.

    6. Template : Template is used to match accurate position of anchor rods,Generally
       Template thickness we will follow as 1/8" and we will match length and width as  base plate  size.

    7.Grout hole: If smaller side dimension of the base plate exceeds approximately 2'-0 then we will provide grout hole in base plate.

    8.column schedule to be referred properly ,So that we will exact base plate sizes and  anchor rod dia.

   9.if design drawing does not provide embedment  then we need to calculate embedment 
    by using formula  i.e 12 X Diameter of anchor rod.
   if we use 3/4"Ø then embedment is 9".


  10.If design drawing does not provide projection then we need to calculate projection by 
     using  formula i.e Grout thickness + base plate thickeness + 2 times of anchor rod dia  
      +washer thickness + nut thickness.


  11.We need to identify footing depths properly because we should maintain 3"clearence 
     between bottom of anchor rod and bottom of footing.
     some times in order to maintain footing depth ,We need to deviate embedment values 
     and also we need to ask question for confirmation.

  • DETAILER SHOULD REFER TO DESIGN DRAWINGS TO PROVIDE OVERSIZED HOLES IN BASE PLATE ,IF INFORMATION MISSING THEN WE NEED TO REFER TABLE C-J9.1 AND 14.2 OF AISC BOOK.

COLUMN
  • COLUMN SPLICE SHOULD BE AT 4'-0 FROM FINISHED FLOOR 

 

  •  ALL PERIMETER COLUMNS SHOULD HAVE SAFETY HOLES FOR WIRE GUARD RAIL ONE AT 1'-9 FROM FINISHED FLOOR AND SECOND AT 3'-6 FROM FINISHED FLOOR

 

  •  ALL COLUMNS SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH LIFTING HOLE SPECIALLY TIER COLUMNS,NORMALLY LIFTING HOLE DIA IS 2'-0.

DECK :

  • DECK SUPPORT MAY BE REQUIRED AT DECK CUTOUTS NEAR BEAM TO BEAM OR BEAM TO COLUMN CONNECTIONS,REFER DESIGN DRAWING OR THE CLENT FOR PREFERRED METHOD

SNAGGING HAZARDS:

  • AVOID SHARP CORNERS.

He need to check and correct the errors of detailer and modeler with respective to design drawings.
